Disney Cruise

Well, I'm finally getting around to sharing some photos from our Disney Cruise.  A big thank you to Grandpa Leo and Grandma Sharon for the fantastic trip.  What an adventure!  Here are some of the hightlights.
THE CHARACTERS

Running into the Disney characters on the ship was so exciting.

There's nothing better than a visit from Mickey during dinner.

Kelsey became a huge Minnie Mouse fan.  She was constantly watching for her all over the ship.

No ship is complete without Princess Kelsey and...

Captain Garrett.
I love the look on Kelsey's face.  She told me she didn't like Pluto the second she saw him.  Poor Pluto.

THE FOOD

The food on the ship was amazing.  We looked forward to every meal and never went hungry.  Could this be any cuter?!?  I couldn't, however, convince Garrett or Kelsey to eat it.

Garrett finished almost every dinner with an ice cream Mickey topped with sprinkles and mini marshmellows.  He was a big fan as you can tell.

Kelsey ate this entire plate of pasta piece by piece.  What a mess!

Kelsey is ready with her mouse ears in case Minnie stops by.

THE SCENERY

Kelsey and Garrett were having a great converstaion about the ice in the water.

Both kids can't seem to figure out how to use the darn binoculars.

Sawyer Glacier (Tracy Arm).
A very wet walk through Juneau with Grandma and Grandpa.

Kelsey enjoying the scenery.

THE FAMILY

Fun on deck with the cousins.  All walkers beware of flying sticks.

Dinner with a couple of Peter Pans, Jack Sparrow, and Minnie Mouse.

Thanks again Grandpa and Grandma for a great trip!

Sweet Kelsey's 2nd Birthday

Happy 2nd Birthday Kelsey!  What a great day!  She started the day off opening gifts and was happy to continue opening presents all day.  When asked what kind of birthday she wanted she told me "pink".

Trying out her new butterfly pajamas and wings.

Opening the gift from Aunty Megs and Uncle Dean.  Notice the amazing wrapping job.  I almost didn't want her to open it.  The bubble machine was a huge hit at her birthday party.

Opening more great presents from Grandpa and Grandma.

The pretty birthday girl.

Bubbles and bouncy castle.  Both birthday party classics.

Checking out her birthday card from cousins Andrew, Jessica, and Caige (not in photo).

Loving her new doll.

I think she's pretty happy with her pink cake.  :)

Playland 2011

We had the the best day at Playland today.  About 2 minutes after we arrived the skies opened up and it absolutely poured rain for about 15 minutes.  We took cover and wondered if the day was going to be a bust but the rain stopped, the sun came out, and we got to dry all of the wet rides with our butts.

The kids loved the rides.  Poor Kelsey wasn't big enough to go on quite a few of the rides that Garrett was able to go on and felt quite sorry for herself.  "I go on that ride.  I'm big now!!"

It took Garrett a few minutes to get the nerve up to do a ride by himself but once he did he was unstoppable.  He kept taking off and running ahead to the rides he wanted to try out and was disgusted when we told him he was too small.

He looks nervous in this photo yet he demanded to go on the ferris wheel twice.

Check out his face.  He couldn't stop smiling.
Even though this almost gave Cary a heart attack, Garrett was just tall enough and went on the adult Wave Swinger.  I thought it might have scared him but we had to stop him from going on twice (we both couldn't handle seeing him so high up a second time).

Kelsey, of course, wouldn't just ride a horse on the carousel.  She chose to ride the creepy pig.  It seemed very out of place amongst pretty horses.

He shoots, he misses!!
What a great day!  We can't wait to go back.

The Dentist

Cary and I took the kids to the dentist this week.  Last time we went Garrett wouldn't even sit in the chair so this was a step up.

Both kids got a ride in the chair.  Garrett insisted that Kelsey go first and she was happy to oblige.

 Checking out the mirrors.

The kids loved the water sprayer and "Mr. Thirsty" (the suction straw).  The hygienist put Mr. Thirsty on their arms and before she knew it both kids had their shirts pulled up and she had to show them what it would feel like all over their bodies.  Both kids left with 3 toys each, a new toothbrush, and all they had to do was open their mouths for about 10 seconds each.  I wish my trips to the dentist were that fun!

Owls, Owls and more Owls

Ever since Garrett found the remains of an owl pellet in our backyard he has been very interested in learning about everything to do with owls.  We drove him out to Ladner today to the O.W.L. Rehabilitation Society where they take care of injured birds of prey.  He was thrilled to see a wide variety of owls including a Snowy Owl, Barn Owl, and a Great Horned Owl.  As a bonus we saw falcons, eagles, and a pair of Turkey Vultures (which he says aren't very pretty to look at).

We also decorated his room using pictures from an old calendar I had at work.  I can't imagine sleeping under all of those owls staring down at me but he seemed excited.
